In the preparation process of metallographic samples, the quality of grinding and polishing directly determines the accuracy of subsequent microscopic analysis. However, traditional manual or semi-automatic grinding and polishing methods generally suffer from pain points such as low efficiency, poor consistency, and high dependence on human labor. The LABTT iAPS-3020XP fully automatic metallographic grinding and polishing system is a brand-new intelligent solution designed by the LABTT technical team to address these pain points.
Fully automated process, truly achieving "unattended operation"
The iAPS-3020XP adopts a seven-station layout: one installation station, one sample loading station, four grinding and polishing stations, and one cleaning and drying station, with an automatic loading and unloading station reserved. Users simply need to place six samples into the sample clamping tray, press the start button, and the system will automatically complete all processes including sample clamping, grinding, polishing, cleaning, and drying. All grinding and polishing parameters - including speed, pressure, time, cooling water, and polishing liquid addition - can be preset by the user, and the system automatically executes them and achieves seamless switching between processes, truly achieving a convenient, fast, efficient, and unattended sample preparation process.
Intelligent Control Ensures Consistency and Repeatability in Sample Preparation The system supports both central pressurization and multi-point pressurization, allowing flexible adaptation to the preparation needs of different types of samples. The grinding and polishing pressure is digitally set through software, and the system automatically maintains a constant pressure, avoiding the impact of human fluctuations. Additionally, the equipment is equipped with a high-precision grinding amount control device to ensure precise and consistent sample removal. Furthermore, all parameters such as speed, time, direction, and water valve switching can be saved and recalled at any time, greatly enhancing the repeatability and reliability of sample preparation.
Strong power and flexible speed, adaptable to various materials
The fully automatic metallographic grinding and polishing system is equipped with a high-power motor that delivers high torque and constant output, ensuring stable power performance at both low and high speeds. The grinding and polishing disc operates at speeds ranging from 5 to 1500 rpm, meeting various sample preparation needs from grinding to polishing. Additionally, the disc features rapid start-stop capabilities, stopping completely in just 2 seconds, significantly enhancing operational safety and process switching efficiency. Furthermore, the system offers multiple working modes for selection, flexibly adapting to different production and research and development scenarios.
Automatic liquid filling, cleaning, and drying to enhance efficiency and cleanliness
The system integrates dispensing units for four different polishing liquids, meeting the polishing needs of multiple steps and materials without the need for frequent manual switching. After the sample is polished, it automatically enters the ultrasonic cleaning station for cleaning and is equipped with a drying function, effectively reducing manual intervention and ensuring that the sample surface is clean and dry, ready for subsequent microscopic observation.
Safe and reliable, with humanized design
The equipment is equipped with a safety light curtain. During the grinding and polishing process, if the body enters the working area by mistake, the system will automatically pause, fully ensuring the safety of the operators (the light curtain can also be manually closed as needed). The workbench is made of 3mm thick 316 stainless steel, designed with a water inlet, and equipped with 5cm high water stop strips on three sides (except for the loading and unloading direction), which is corrosion-resistant and easy to clean.
