120 hour ultimate test: 7 types of steel piston materials, who can withstand oxidation the most?

Pistons serve for a long time under high temperature, high pressure, and alternating loads, and their antioxidant performance directly determines the engine's lifespan and reliability.
To simulate extreme working conditions, we conducted a 120 hour continuous oxidation test on 7 different steel piston materials.
The following is a visual comparison of the surface oxidation degree and cross-sectional metallographic structure of each material after the experiment.

The metallographic preparation and microscopic analysis of all samples in this experiment were completed by LABTT equipment - from precise cutting to high-definition imaging, ensuring the authenticity and clarity of the comparison results throughout the process.
